Prof. Dr. Lochana Shrestha

Professor Lochana Shrestha a residing in Lalitpur, Nepal is a qualified Medical Doctor with her Doctor of Medicine in Community Medicine (Bangladesh), Master in International Public Health (Australia) and Fellows in Geriatrics (India). She currently heads the Department of Community Medicine at Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS), Kathmandu, Nepal.

She chairs the Health Home Care Nepal (Elderly Care Home), Institutional research Committee (IRC) and Research Division of NAIHS.

She is a Hon. Council Member of UN International Institute on Aging, Malta/ILC-I Satellite Center for SAARC region and Ethical member of National Health Research Council (NHRC). Geriatric Expert Group of National Human Rights Commission, Nepal, Board member of Nepal Public Health Foundations and Alzheimer Related Disease Society (ARDS), Member of International Federation of Aging (IFA), International Vitamin D Council and International HIV/ AIDS Alliance.

Professor Shrestha has an experience of more than 20 years in Community Medicine and with her previous engagement as faculties at Nepal Medical college, Kathmandu and Manipal Medical science college, Pokhara,

TB And HIV AIDS Advisor at Ministry of health and population, government of Nepal and Save The Children International, Epidemiologist at SAARC TB And HIV.AIDS Centers, Short Term Consultancy On HIV/AIDS in WHO/UN. Resource Person and Facilitator for Trainings on HIV/AIDS in Different SAARC Countries and has several publications on MCH, Diabetes, HIV/AIDS and Geriatrics in National and International Journals.  Professor Shrestha’s mission in the field of Community Medicine is to participate and implement preventive medicine and public health activities with focus on Geriatric care services and other vulnerable group of people to promote health for all people.
